Lina, a Fearful Foster
Lina is a 5-year-old Miniature Pinscher mix. When she was 15 months old, she was transferred to me from another foster due to distrust of men. I was told she was extremely fearful, but having dealt with dogs like her previously, I was not too concerned. That'll teach me to get cocky!
She was the worst case I had ever seen as far as 'fear of people' went. It took 8 months for me to gain her trust. It was during that time that I started falling for her. My friends kept telling me to just keep her. They knew I would do it before I admitted it myself, and while I said I was going to keep trying to work with her to overcome her challenges, in the back of my mind I did not think she would ever be adoptable due to her mistrust of people.
Then when learned she needed both patellas operated on, the rescue officially deemed her unadoptable since according to them, patella surgery is not very successful. Combine that with her people issues, and I was told she did not have a chance of finding a home. I decided to officially make her part of the family then.
